VR Fire Training: Reducing Fire-Related Risks

Is VR Fire Training a Good Idea?

Fire safety is crucial for businesses, as fires can cause both human and material losses. Fire training is therefore essential to prevent risks and protect employees and professional premises.

VR simulations offer new opportunities to strengthen this training and improve responsiveness in case of emergency. By using tools such as FIRE VR, each employee can make informed decisions in a realistic environment, which can help save lives and protect property.

Office fire training (EPI) is not limited to learning how to use extinguishers. Trainers go beyond this skill and cover the entire training process, thus addressing all aspects necessary to be fully prepared in case of fire.

By opting for virtual reality training with FIRE VR, learners can benefit from realistic and varied simulation, as well as personalized training, offering significant advantages over traditional training methods.

It is crucial to react quickly in case of fire by sounding the alarm, calling the fire department, and closing doors to prevent rapid flame spread and harmful smoke inhalation. However, some trainees may lack confidence in their ability to extinguish an advanced fire.

VR simulations offer opportunities to test trainees on the entire process, helping them make informed decisions in a controlled and safe environment.

FIRE VR was created in 2019 with the aim of addressing daily risks that can occur without warning and to be ready to know the first steps to take in case of a disaster.

FIRE VR Training

The training offers 18 different situations (environment, fire type, extinguisher type, etc.).

Each trainee is therefore evaluated in a different context. The trainer can adapt the VR experience to each individual's strengths and weaknesses.

Combined with this fire training, the virtual extinguishers allow trainees to carry out the entire fire procedure:

  • Initial assessment

  • Door opening

  • Phone calls

  • Alarm activation

  • Extinguisher use

  • Utility shutoff

  • Evacuation.

Thanks to real connected extinguishers and our VR fire training module, trainees are immersed in a new era that is even more realistic and engaging, where they can feel the real weight of the extinguisher and perform all the safety procedures necessary to prevent their company from suffering disasters.

The Setup Process

Simple to configure and deploy (in just 5 minutes), FIRE VR has numerous educational benefits: creating realistic emotions, optimal memorization rate, and learning to operate extinguishers.

Using VR Fire Training and Its Advantages

Simply put on the virtual reality headset to find yourself in a realistic environment to explore. Subsequently, hands are automatically detected and visible in the VR fire training module.

To move around, it's as simple as making a quick gesture with your fingers. It is essential that trainees can practice in stressful and realistic situations, especially when the alarm sounds. However, many trainees struggle to apply the procedure in real situations.

FIRE VR offers a solution by allowing trainers to guide trainees in the right direction and ensure they will be capable of making informed decisions in case of emergency. This approach can potentially save lives and property.

To train, simply complete sessions lasting 5 to 6 minutes.

For a comprehensive assessment, a trainer interface is provided to follow trainees' progress in real time, enabling monitoring and immediate debriefing. Trainees are immersed in an interactive virtual environment that accurately recreates emergency situations, allowing them to feel immersed in the situation.

This promotes more engaged and emotionally involved learning.

VR training offers increased flexibility for creating and adapting fire scenarios. Trainers can customize situations to meet the specific needs of each trainee, allowing each participant to be evaluated in different contexts. This targeted approach improves training effectiveness by focusing on areas where trainees need the most improvement.

Compared to traditional training, VR training offers many advantages. First, it provides a wide variety of realistic simulations, allowing participants to experience diverse situations and practice responding appropriately.

Additionally, VR training can be personalized according to individual needs, enabling more effective learning.

Virtual Extinguishers

Furthermore, our real extinguishers connected to virtual reality are 100% eco-friendly: the extinguishers used are second-hand. No more training with burning pallets, igniting gas, CO2 emissions, or additives in your parking lot. Your employees face no risk of burns or smoke exposure. Designed in 2022, the virtual extinguishers are manufactured directly in our premises in the provinces (78), in our Fab-Lab, making them pure Made in France products.

Comprising a kit of 2 revolutionary extinguishers (Water and CO2), radically changing the way people learn in VR fire training through direct and realistic action.

  • Spatial tracking

  • Real recycled extinguisher

  • Designed and manufactured in France

It is also important to confront trainees with decision-making they must handle alone and on unique challenges.

Virtual reality, when it immerses the learner in a concrete case, isolates them from other trainees and the trainer. As a result, they must make decisions on their own, as is the case in most real-life situations. With 18 scenarios per environment, each trainee experiences a unique situation and must make decisions accordingly.

Fire VR is a comprehensive tool combining immersiveness and realism, where retention is enhanced through direct experience and muscle memory activation.
